“On 12/4/2023, at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Ports, and with the generous hospitality of the General Manager of Ports and the Directorate staff, an agreement was signed between the General Directorate of Ports (as the competent maritime authority in the Syrian Arab Republic) and MARE MARINE CLASSIFICATION SOCIETY (as an RO – Recognized Organization) regarding the authorization of the Society to conduct inspections, issue certificates, and provide services on behalf of the Directorate concerning ships flying the Syrian flag. This authorization is based on the provisions and conditions pertaining to recognized organizations (Maritime Safety Committee Resolution MSC 349(92) and Marine Environment Protection Committee Resolution MEPC 237(65)). The agreement encompasses all clauses related to delegation terms, certificate issuance procedures, and According to the authorizations granted to MMCS, recognized by the Directorate. Accordance with the guidelines of the organization for the unified inspection and certification system for the year 2019, along with any new amendments that may arise.”
